Names: Kushla Glauser + Simon Child
Wedding date: 28 April 2018
Ceremony & Reception Venue: Kauri Bay Boomrock, AKL
How we met and the marriage proposal:
We both play hockey - Si saw me playing and messaged me! He proposed on a surprise weekend away - we took a flight in a helicopter and landed on a riverbank. As we walked along, I spotted red rose petals, so I turned around and he was on one knee. The best.
About our wedding day:
It was in the middle of a storm! But that didn't matter in the slightest. The storm created an amazing energy and vibe. It drew everyone together and it was a really intimate, beautiful evening full of so many laughs. There was a break in the weather for Si and I to take a break and spend some time together outside amongst the trees which was really special.
Our wedding style:
Minimal, contemporary but classic, white!
Finding my wedding gown:
It was at the end of a very long day of shopping for the perfect wedding dress. We had flown over from Auckland and hadn't had much luck. However, we had left Suzanne Harward until last. I wasn't going to travel all the way across Melbourne in peak hour traffic, but my best friend made me. I walked in, felt immediately at ease and it was the first dress I tried on! It was so unique (incredible fabrication), contemporary but classic - the perfect dress for me. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
First dance song:
Earth, Wind & Fire - September. We'd danced to this song on one of our favourite holidays with our best friends - it always brings back the best of memories.
Advice for future couples:
Don't sweat the small stuff - it doesn't matter on the day. Take some time out with your new husband / wife to watch all your nearest and dearest celebrate with / for you.
Couture experience at Suzanne Harward:
I will never hesitate to recommend Suzanne Harward and her entire amazing team! From start to finish they made the entire experience stress-free and enjoyable, which was particularly important for me being from NZ. While this dress was my ultimate and most perfect dress (I’d wear it every day if I could), the entire collection was simply stunning. Suzanne Harward has totally nailed it contemporary / classic and I will forever have the best memories of how I felt in the most special of dresses.

Celebration Cakes was first opened in the early ’70’s by a Mother & Daughter team. They set up their business in Churchill Ave, Manurewa baking & decorating cakes, selling decorating supplies, home style baking & catering local events.
Around 20 years later they decided to concentrate on the catering side of the business and sold the cake decorating & supplies side to Ngaio (& Gary) a long time employee.
