Jordie & Kurt: Bundeena, Featured on White Magazine

With the seaside as their backdrop, Jordie + Kurt tied the knot at a gorgeous family property in Bundeena. Unconventional and informal in all of the best ways, this fun-loving couple knows how to throw a party. Great food, ever flowing drinks and live music to get everyone dancing were top priority. We love the bold, vibrant color palette, Jordie’s exceptional dress and the way the crisp white flowers pop with the emerald bridesmaid dresses. Keep reading to find out more about the day and see more photos from Kat Stanley Photography!

Tell us about your proposal.

Knowing how much I love the sunrise, Kurt and I were on a family holiday with my family, and we went for an early morning walk along the Esplanade. Right as we turned to admire the sun coming up, there he was, down on one knee asking me to marry him and with the happiest tears I squeezed him so tight with a big YES!

How did you know your partner was the one?

We met on a fun night out, and it only took a day before the texts and calls started, which then lead to our first date weeks later.

This was a night and the best first date I had ever had in my life, I will never forget it! It was a date that was filled with laughter & happiness, and waking up the next day was when I realised how much I had really fallen for this guy!

What do you love most about your partner?

It’s got to be his smile – Kurty has this big, cheesy, contagious smile that lights up a room! Whenever he smiles, I just smile back without even trying. And then there is his cuddles. The second I walk in the door every single day, I am greeted with a big loooong cuddle, that fixes any kind of day a really does make me feel like the luckiest girl alive.

What was your favourite part of the wedding day?

Where do I start… Being lucky enough to be married on Kurt’s grandparents back lawn with the both of his grandparents being there to witness us, jumping on a friends boat to get photos on a sandbar, to seeing everyone having as much fun we did, truly made my night! It was a wedding that was filled from top to bottom with our amazing friends and family, incredibly delicious food, flowing drinks and one unbelievably talented band that had the dance floor going from start to finish!  The vibe was such a fun-loving night and it really was perfect – I couldn’t possibly pick a favorite!

Describe your wedding theme/style.

When I think of a theme, all that comes to mind is whimsical. We both always said two words when planning our wedding – “Nothing Formal”. Kurt and I are two people that love to have fun! We wanted to make sure our wedding had everyone dancing, laughing and enjoying each other’s company. My mind was set on creating two completely different themes, as our guests made a journey from the ceremony at Bundeena Beach via a private chartered ferry to the reception at Hazlehurst Art gallery. Guests were invited to dress in Lounge Suits as we wanted a relaxed feel. We didn’t want to create a “beachy” theme, even though we were on a beach, so I tried to play it safe using dark timber furniture and arbor, accompanied with crisp, clean white florals and foliage to really contrast against the bold emerald green bridesmaids dresses.

The florists, Lauren & Nicole, along with their team made my dreams come true! I asked them to totally transform the Bundeena florals into bright, vibrant, colour popping florals to completely change the feel, and indeed they did! I have never seen so many vibrant coloured floral arrangements like theirs! The stand out was definitely the giant “J K” Letters we had custom made. The florals on the letters were out of this world!!

We chose a cocktail style reception, serving gourmet canapés mixed with wood-fired pizza and a giant seafood paella! The food was one of the things that really stood out to the guests, they couldn’t compliment it more.

The band was the other hot topic! A DJ, saxophonist and a singer that will get any and every body dancing!

Our vision of a fun, loving and not so formal wedding, sure did come to life.

What is marriage to you?

A Promise.

A promise of loyalty, trust, and unconditional love.

Three of the most important things that I hold very close to me.

To be loyal, you gain trust, to trust, you find love.

To have loyalty, trust and love between two human beings, is something so special and should be celebrated!

Promising Kurty my all, and him promising me his, was both a privilege and an unbelievable gift that I will hold with me for eternity.
