Bianca & Tim: Butler Lane, Richmond
Names: Bianca McCormack and Tim Toholka
Wedding date: 25 October 2019
Ceremony & Reception Venue: Butler Lane
How we met and the marriage proposal: We were introduced by a mutual friend at a café in Sydney in 2015. We immediately bonded over both being from Melbourne. We both missed Melbourne and were happy to move back to this awesome city in 2017.
Tim proposed on the McCormack bridge in Milawa in 2018. The bridge is situated near farmland that had been in Bianca’s family for generations. Needless to say, Tim earned some serious brownie points with Bianca’s family for his choice of location!
About our wedding day: It was the best day of our lives. The day was everything we hoped it would be – relaxed, happy and lots of fun. We were glad we chose to do a ‘first look’ as it allowed us to spend some quality time alone together before the celebration kicked off. It also allowed us to get some photos before the ceremony at a café in Hawthorn and hang out with our fur baby, Winston (the ‘Dog of Honour’).
We chose music that would create a light and happy atmosphere for the ceremony: Tim and Winston had their entrance to ‘Get Lucky’ by Daft Punk and Bianca walked down the aisle to ‘Everywhere’ by Fleetwood Mac. Our vows, whilst beautiful, also contained a bit of humour. The reception went by so quickly! We loved the fantastic speeches from Bianca’s dad, her Maid of Honour and Tim’s Best Man. A highlight of the reception was our first dance. We worked with a fantastic dance instructor to put together a dance with lifts and a few dips. We had a blast during our dance lessons and we couldn’t wait to show our loved ones what we had learned.
Our wedding style: Our ceremony and reception were held at Butler Lane in Richmond. Butler Lane had everything we wanted – it is in the heart of Melbourne, has a stunning exposed brick courtyard with a wall of greenery for the ceremony, and also has a spacious converted warehouse for the reception. The style of Butler Lane was beautifully complemented with a mix of moody and bright florals from Pomp & Splendour.
Finding my wedding gown and couture experience at Suzanne Harward: I found the entire experience easy and fun! I initially went to Suzanne Harward with a different bridal gown in mind, but when I tried on the Tora gown, I knew it was the one. Suzanne Harward was so accommodating with the changes I wanted to make to the top of the gown. It was my dream gown.
First dance song: Moondance by Van Morrison
Advice for future couples: Do not feel that you have to abide by every wedding tradition. We are so glad we broke tradition to spend some time together before the ceremony.
